know of someone that has a set of antlers that are record breaking and never report it? About six years ago I was installing a freezer in a old farm house in Central WI and this old man had a box of antlers that would make stan potts eyes not cross. He told me that he picks them up by the marsh next to his fields. "They don't look to good in the tractor tire's!....ya know" I looked at the sheds and some of them would go 80-90 inches easily.

Another time I was installing a dishwasher at an huge apple orchard and this gentelman had a buck mounted that he found dead on his property. 7x7 typical, 8 inch G1's that were bladed and heavy mass all around. I asked him what it scored and he just shrugged his shoulder's.

Any body else know of any one like these people?

Yep, here in British Columbia lots of oldtimers passed racks down that have never been scored.Don't know if any will make world records, but there is lots and lots that will really put British Columbia on the map in the Boone and Crocket as this Province being one of the best places to get trophy bucks.My Uncle has a pic of a 44" wide buck he shot in Princeton back in the mid 50' early 60's, it hung on his shed for years.He threw it in the dump in the 70's when he sold his house. He has shot a pile of monster size racks, but those where the years that the legal number of bucks to be harvested was much much more liberal, and he lived in a town that was in the middle of one of the biggest deer and elk migration routes in British Columbia and the season lasted forever.Everbody who lived their got them.By the time I started hunting that area, the season closed by November 7 that was in the 80's.They hung them outside on their sheds to
waste away nobody thought otherwise, cause they plowed down through that town like cattle.Today it's different, it's tightly regulated and bucks just
aren't that common to see like they used to be. They still get big ones there but it's not like ut used to be.But you go to that town and knock on doors
everybodys got them and the old school hunters are not intersested in scoring them but the are more than willing to show you and tell their stories.He laughed when Kirk Darner published that book of his and this was before Kirk got a lifetime ban on hunting and owning firearms.He told me than that guy was nothing more than poacher. His reasoning, you know when enough mounting is enough and you start throwing and he was right, Kirk lost alot and rightly so.He told me back than it had nothing to do with hunting technique or skill. My uncles success had everything to do with lots and lots of big antlered animals migrating to the wintering grounds and the
numbers of deer you were alowed to kill and a very very long season to kill them in.

Do you mean make the record book or the tops in the book? If it's make the book my BIL has numerous bucks, a full curl Dall sheep, a moose, a cougar and an Alaskan caribou that all made the book.

I worked for a transmission company owned by the Batten's. If you've never heard of John Batten he was one of the most famous big game hunters in the world. When he died the NRA Rifleman magazine did a full page article on him. Search him on the net.

In any case he had many of his world record or near world record mounts in the large meeting room wall at work and I can honestly say I've never seen pictures, tv shows or any other sources of animals that can come close to matching his. His moose, cape buffalo and some other African animals were the biggest creatures I have ever seen. His cape buffalo's horns were TWICE as wide as any I have ever seen taken on tv or in pictures.

The farm I hunt has a lot of nice racks hanging on the outside of the barn. I was talking to the farmer one day and he took me into a back room. He said he was tired of people seeing the bigger ones out front and asking for permission to hunt. He has one set that is a main frame 10, about 20 inches wide, lots of stickers off the G2's and G3's, and it looks like someone hit them with a hammer and they swolled up! The heaviest horns I have ever saw in my life. When I asked what it scored he said "It scored a ten in my book. He tasted great!"

learned long ago, that antlers won't fill the Sunday dinner table.

That may be so, however, that rump roast would look pretty silly hanging on the wall now wouldnt it.

We are all trophy hunters at heart. I've never met anyone who would pass up a large antlered buck.
