I hate cows!

So I set up my stand, cam area, and what not and find about 15 cows huddled around my Buck jam I have in front of the trail cam about 300 yds up creek from my cam! You have to be freakin kidding me! The freeloaders stayed for about an hour and pooped everywhere. I've been telling the farmer/friend who owns the ground that he took out the fence line while taking down some trees with a loader, but of course he hasn't fixed it yet. I would, but don't have the supplies or money. Anyway, I am just happy I found a new back up spot where I spotted a big guy while scouting today. Maybe the cows are a blessing in disguise, who knows.

Pray for me
Pete

similar thing happened to me last year... the cows were even licking my tree stand so i broke off some sticks and threw them at them to scare them away...

Cow's make GREAT cover.
One of my stands is near a cow pasture, that extends up into the woods.
The deer are always in that little extension.
I think they are looking for things the cows bulldozed up, or nuts they
nocked out of the trees, or something.

When I lived on the other side of the state I had 57 acres and it held about 120 head of Herferd feeder cattle of my neighbors that crossed it to his property on the other side. The cattle made trails in the timber that was so think you could not drive an elephant through it. The deer loved it!! I would step in a cow pie and use it as cover scent and the deer never knew different. They would follow me on occassion, but nothing really bothered the deer from it. Killed deer within 50 yds of the cattle with a bow.

I don't mind cattle at all myself either.
Use them to my advantage as well. Those trails always lead to food and water sources I don't even know existed. When cattle start to move good chances the game animals are moving as well.I have never had a problem with cattle interfering with me hunts.

The smart money is on the fence line where the trees were knock down. deer love the nuts . That are easy to reach laying with the limbs on the ground. A good ground blind brushed in just alittle. That looks like clearing will bring you suprising results. I spend 40Hrs a week clearing and cleaning up timber lands. For harvest and replant all over the south. give it a try. and don't mind the cow's they make good cover too. good hunting.
