I never saw much sense to using a drag.The deer is more likely to go the opposite way since that's the direction which the scent is strongest.

I personally haven't had one work, but then I don't see too many bucks around because they tend to flee the deerdogs first. My worst fear is having something get on the trail as I'm laying it in the dark walking to my stand. A coyote, bobcat or big buck thinking I'm a doe in estrous just doesn't seem like an enjoyable experience at Dark-Thirty on the morning. |

I carry a handgun when I hunt, including archery season, which is legal in VA. Of course, I'm not sure any game warden would believe a story about being attacked if you showed up with a big buck killed with a handgun during archer season. |
Anyway, I'll probably use a drag line this weekend for the first time. I was going to use one last Friday during my P.M. hunt but I shot a buck during the A.M. and called it a day.
