My first two wallhangers were taken with a Rem. 700 ADL .30-06 with a Redfield 3-9X. Next four bucks (one shoulder mount) was with a Rem. 700 ADL .243, also with a Redfield 3-9X. The next "trophy" was with a Rem. 700 BDL 7mm Rem Mag with a Leupold 3-9X. Now, I'm using a Rem. 700 ADL 7mm-08 with a Pentax 4-12X. I'll continue using it at least until I bag another wallhanger. Then I'm planning to put a scope on my M1A and use that for a year or two. And, at some point, I'm going to buy myself a Marlin 336 in .30-30, as EVERY deerhunter needs to take a deer with a .30-30 at some point in their life.

I shoot a Winchester .308 pre-64 and have made 300 yd shots many times. I might add it really isn't the rifle, it takes lots of practice and getting to know how your rifle shoots and your limitations.

I use my AR-15 in 6.8SPC. The ammo I use from Silver State Armory has an effective range of about 350-400yds, but my effective range is 250yds and less.

I use a new england arms 45-70 single shot. it makes me keep in mind the importance of that one shot. i hear guys in the woods pumping four or five shots out at a deer and well it pisses me off.
