I think i saw on ebay once where a guy sells plans for all different kinds of homemade stands. Some of them looked very comfertable.

You can buy a good ladder stand cheaper than you can make one. Dick's has a good 16 ft. stand with side rails and a shooting rail for $80.

I used to build my own ladder stands, but as the above post noted you can buy the metal stands just as cheap, they are easier to put up, and transport. now the only thing I build in the woods are my " Rut Condo's". I can build a shooting house a whole lot cheaper than the plastic ones for $1200.
