Its been a while since we have seen any rain here. I set up last night on a water source which is in short supply around here. I counted seven at one time about two hours before sunset.
I think its a great idea.

Water is not in short supply where I hunt, plus deer get a lot of their water from dew. I hunt right on an irrigation ditch, but not for the water. Come to think of it, I can't even say I have seen them take a drink when crossing the ditch. I'll have to watch a little closer this year.

We have been in a horrible drought this summer. I can't believe how far the reservoir nearby has receded. Anyway, I'm curious about this, too. So...BUMP!

I'll let you know after this weekend. I hung my stand on a little pond this afternoon. Alot of Oak trees with acorns in area as well.

on the small piece of land i hunt, i have two stands, one by the water source (two ponds with creek feeding into them) and the other about 100 yards away back in the woods by a funnel towards the water source. the stand in the woods is new as of 2 months ago and ive hunted it 3 times so far and seen a handful with no luck. the stand by the water source was very successful last year for the first month and a half of the season.
