Plan to Hunt With A Favorite Rifle This Year?
Fellow Hunters:
Do you have a favorite rifle you plan to hunt with
this year? Tell us about that special firearm that you
have confidence in , and that you believe will put
"meat in the pot" this year.
Mine is a Winchester model 94, 30-30 made in 1955.
I have full confidence in the "ole gal." I haven't missed
yet with her. I also have a Puma model 92, 480 Ruger
that is second to none. But, there is a "romance"
between me and my 30-30!
Have a WONDERFUL weekend,

When I go and try to answer a simple question like that, the list of guns keeps on growing. LOL! I have a Marlin 336 30-30 that I'm partial to and keep thinking that will be my deer gun, then I change my mind. I have a tactical Rem 700 .270 that is a "Go-to" long range gun of mine, but I think it will be my Rem 700 .243 CDL fluted that will be doing the most barking.
Then again I could pull out an Encore or a .308. LOL!
Seriously, I think,... I'm leaning towards the .243 I listed.
'Bout that "romance" thing... watch it!... this is a kid-friendly forum!

That's an easy one for me...
Since I'm not doing any western hunts this year, it's whitetails only for me in NY and PA..
My current favorite whitetail rifle is a Rem 700 Mountain rifle in 7mm08.. It's currently wearing a Burris 2x7 and it pushes my handloaded 120 grain Barnes TSX at just over 3000 fps muzzle velocity..

I have a Tikka M65 in 30-06, that I just love to shoot. Taken several deer over the years, but missed out on hunting the gun season last year, so I bought a Triumph for the muzzleloader season. Now I'm kinda hooked on muzzleloading and thinking of shooting it in the regular gun season... but I do love my Tikka!

I hunt in brushy type land.
Because of having rotator cup surgery in Jan 2010, on my right sholder.
I need to use something with less recoil.
There is just something special about lever action guns.
Shooting Hornady 140 grain Leverevolution, in 357 magnum.
