Planning to use the Savage (stevens) 30-.06. My father has used it for several years, but is switching so I think I am going to use it

I prefer to use a bow for deer but here is what I use on deer killers...

For Coyotes- Ruger M77 Mark II .243 with Winchester Silvertip Ballistics 95 gr.

For Bears 1930's Mauser small ring 98 8MM with self loaded ballistic tips 170 gr.

This was brought back from Germany by my grandfather during WWII. All gunsmithing and stock fabrication was done by a German gunsmith.

I am a big fan of my Thompson Center Encore in a 25-06. I used to shoot my good ol' 270 Winchester, but my shot to kill ration has increased drastically with my Encore and I don't think that there is a finer gun or a finer deer/antelope cartridge on the market.

I'm a one rifle guy: savage 30-'06, model 111. Nothing exceptional or special about it other than putting bullets in wee little circles at great distances.

Edit: I do have a CVA Bobcat that was given to me that I will use in Muzzloader season.

i just finished will my new deer slayer... Ruger M77 in 7mm.08 topped with a Vortex Diamondback 4x12x40.

if anyone is on the fence about Vortex rifle scopes than let me tell ya', they are amazing. I'd pick a Vortex Viper over a $500 Leupold any day of the week.

Marlin XS7 in .308 -- shoot extremely well for such a cheap gun. good for me because i'm on a very tight budget!

Be leary of the guy who only uses one gun.

He just may know how to use it.
