nub, are you saying you don' t have lonestar ticks, or just don' t have a problem with them?

short: Perhaps lonestar is another name for one of the ticks we have around here. We have 3 that I call the deer tick, dog tick, and wood tick. Them lonestar buggers must be tired by the time they crawl all that ways! [:o]

99% of all ticks will attach to you from your knees down. They don' t drop down on your head.
I beg to differ. I' ve had a few embed themselves in me over the last 45 years. Not one was below the knees. Besides the hair line and ear area on my head theres one other area they like to show up. Perhaps you New Yorkers don' t have as much blood down there as us Wisconsinites![:o]:D;)

What I was trying to say is they get on you from the knees down - then they crawl up your leg and torso, until they find a nice soft (little);)juicy spot:). They don' t drop down on your head but crawl up to it. So treatment of the legs and boots is very important.

Lonestar ticks don' t come from the lonestar state:) they have a single dot on their back that looks like a lone star.:)

Those things are a pain in the butt. In Jersey it' s also pretty bad. Just practicing shooting I get them crawling up my leg. I like to wear shorts though, that way when I' m practicing I can feel them crawling on up. I' m going to invest in the rynoskin clothing. I' ve been told you can feel the breeze through them and they aren' t so bad to wear. The last thing I want to do is have to worry about picking ticks off of me after a long night in a stand.

You can get it at walmart. Repel with permanone' s active ingredient is permethrin. The stuff works. Scouting for turkeys with long pants tucked into boots without even sitting down anywhere I pulled one tick out of my left cheek (the one that doesn' t get much sunshine) before I treated my clothes. After I treated them, I hunted hard for about 9 days throughout the season without having one lil bugger attaching itself. I walked through, hid in, sat on all kinds of likely tick infested places. I' m sold on the stuff. Also, I had a half dozen deer walk up to within about 25 yards while I was wearing the treated clothing. The wind was blowing the wrong way and I didn' t pay much attention to scent control since I was hunting turkeys, but considering those deer hung out somewhere between 5-10 min without me getting busted, it may just be okay to use the stuff while hunting deer too.

The DEET for me works great here in Arkansas,29% or 30% DEET is what I use, you need to take a shower as soon as you get out of the woods and wash off the DEET. I use the Repel brand......

Now if you got the TICK stuck on you in anyway you shouldnt burn the tick off, The best way that I have found to get the Ticks off is drip or pour I dont care RUBBING ACOHOL on the tick before pulling him off the, this makes the tick sleepy or suddated and then the easly pull out!!!!!!!!!!!!Try it

If the tick has Lyme Disease and you go pulling the tick off with out using the Achohol the he can inject the desease into you, they kinda like puke it in because of the sudden squeeze or jerk you are doing to them!!!!!

So use the Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, then wait a 5-6 seconds and then pull them off...
