I find it comical at how these forums evolve. This thread starts out about Tiff and end up about the Nuge. I guess There is a connection somehow. I hate hunting shows, they aren't reality! I just choose not to watch. By the way, thats what the solution to this thread.

Hi there,
Wow you are a rough group! It took me a bit to decide if I was going to even respond to some of the things that have been written, as some of your comments are just plain mean, some are not true and some are absurd, but of course it's easy to post all of these things when you are a nameless face behind a computer.
Hope you all have a great and safe hunting season.

Very funny, now I know why I usually never bother to post on these things.
For the person who says they are me, would never ever say the things that you did.

Quit with the rehersed play backs leading up to the shot and the recovery. They are as fake as Pamela Andersons boobs. You aren't fooling any one. Show the hunt for what it really is. You are killing an animal. We want to see the blood, the entrance wound, the tracking, etc... etc... all of it. If you are going to show the shot in slow motion then show the whole dang shot. Don't cut away right when the arrow gets there.

So get used to food plots and high fence hunts on TV until another channel comes about...

You know... I stopped watching hunting shows years ago. They are not what true hunting is like on public land!
I have met (they autographed my hat too) a bunch of "pro" hunters at those outdoorsman shows at the expo center in town, over the years:
Michael Waddell
David Blanton
Stan Potts
Greg Miller
Larry Weishuhn
And you know what? They are just ordinary guys who got lucky enough to make some serious $$$$ by being on TV. I am not impressed with their hunting ability, because all they do is hunt high priced game ranches.
I am willing to bet, you put any one of those guys out in the middle of the George Washington Nat'l Forest in Virginia where they just might see only a single deer, but not enough to get a shot off. So they have to carefully head it off and maybe they'll be able to get a shot. Those guys would get so frustrated, they'd probably quit!
Better yet, put any one of those guys on a public land WMA on any given Saturday, and watch them freak out. Watch their reaction to seeing like 9000 hunters per square mile, and the whole place has so much blaze orange, it looks like a freakin' pumpkin patch!
In a nutshell: Most of the TV "pro" hunters are spoiled, pampered, and will do anything for the camera. Get them off their game ranches and high fences where they'd have to work hard for their game, and they'd fall flat on their face!

TV hunters for the most part are good hunters. They are not gods nor are the bumbling idiot (most of the time). Just because they don't hunt over hunted public ground doesn't mean they suck as a hunter. They are however making a living at this so they need to produce a show for us. If they were hunting public land and killing very few animals I doubt they would have a show long. We need to stop trying to live up to TV hunters and just take these shows for what they are...entertainment.

Why is that guys hunting public ground are somehow better hunters? I see most of them just walking 100 yards from the truck and climb the first good tree and hope for the best. Just because they have to hunt under poorer conditions doesn't mean they are better hunters. I also believe most of them would jump at the chance to hunt a good private spot.

I have to agree with you. I have seen some (many) crappy hunters on public ground. Granted most of them are newbies and dont know much about what they are doing.
Lots of walkers or those that move from spot to spot.
