Shed traps
i recently set up what i guess you would call a shed trap
i made a setup to where a buck would stick his kneck under a cord to get food and when he backed out the cord would knock his sheds off. well i have already collected a few but this is my first years trying it. I was really curious if any body had heard of any other way. |
Sounds cruel to me. Every seen a deer tangled? What if they're not ready to come off?

Never "caught a deer". The antlers come off the same way as if they were rubbing against a tree or barb wire fence. The steel cord has no slack in it. Its a system that works and is HARMLESS. I am not looking for opinions or debate. If any hunter has a question or another method please i would love to hear from you. |
I came upon a tangled buck. He was panic striken and thrashing wildly about. Just trying to make sure you know what the outcome could be. It is not HARMLESS, but do what you gotta do.

And do you know the specifics of said trap before you had made your original comments? Just curious. iSnipe |
gyro,
I'm trying to look, but I did have an illustration of an antler trap used by some. I had it in a post, but I thought I had the diagram somewhere on my 'puter. If I find it, I'll post for you and others to check out. It's not original, but it has worked for some. iSnipe |
This one looks pretty harmless.

Here's a recent post with pics of some antler traps. I've used them the last 2 years. I haven't been successful yet, but I keep hoping.

For some reason the link isn't working, but you can find the thread currently on page 5 of this forum with the last post dated Jan 14th.
