Story Behind the Pic
A friend of mine sent me this pic. It is an amazing pic. Does anyone know the story behind this? There are two people standing at the top of the hill, so the deer aren't afraid of people. It has to be a deer farm of some sort, but I don't know for sure. Anyone?

The people look photoshopped to me

Not sure of this exact pic but most likely along a snowmobile trail. See this quite a bit were we ride not to this extent but I also see food on the trail in this pic, That may explain the vast numbers Its amazing how used to people deer get in winter when snow is extremely deep and they herd up Alot of knuckleheads try to get them to eat out of their hand . So now they see snowmobiles as the ice cream man not good, seen a few busted up sleds not to mention people from collisions
We have deer like that just not that many . It's amazing how tame they get if they see you around a feed area all the time and if you don't bother with them . Just ignore them and after a time they get pretty tame .

If the people standing on the ridge are photoshopped, who took the picture ?

Guess what, you can actually hand feed deer. True.

Anyway, very cool pic. Good thing the abominable snow monster wasn't nearby. He would have been in heaven. |
I've received this photograph in an email a couple of times. The text indicated it was along a snowmobile trail. I believe it said it was in Michigan ... but who knows, that danged internet thingy is full of BS!

I am not a photoshop expert but this is my take on why I think it is fake. The shadows from the poles and trees don't match the shadow angles cast by some of the deer. The 2 to 3 deer in the fore ground appear to be in spuperior focus and detail then the rest of the herd. I also notice what appears to be a single patch of corn/bait that the foremost deer is feeding on yet don't notice it in the presence of other deer. But it might be real. Like I said I am no photoshop expert, but do see somethings that make me go hmmmmm.

pic was taken NORTH HATLEY QUEBEC .hunters putting out feed for the deer ,we have lots of snow ,the deer are hungry and have calmed down .. the food that we feed them is Purina 5644 deer feed .. i hope i cleared some of your questions ...Hey, don't shoot the messenger |
In Ontario and that is even southern Ontario where I am, the deer yard up and it is not uncommon to see deer on the snowmobile trail.the concentration of deer in Northern Ontario will even be more considering there is only a few places they can get food on a hard winter.
Here there might be a couple of dozen of them or more together and they get used to the machines. They are not domesticated but they know when the hunting season is over and understand the importance of being together for food and preventing predation. Same thing with the wild turkeys. You can almost run over them 2 weeks before the hunt but try and locate them during the hunt is another thing. That deer picture is not uncommon to see on the trails. Maybe not that many but in a group. I hunt a 200 acres farm where in early spring they are still together and the farmer often counts at least 60 deer on his front yard. |
Thanks Heinz57 for clearing that up. Those are truly some amazing pictures. You have anymore posted somewhere. I would be interested in seeing them.

Looks like they need to thin out some doe in that square mile

when hunting season rolls around the deer do a disappearing act ...they don't need handouts in november ..so hunting is not feeding time ..deer are smarter than you think . when deer are hand fed in the winter at some places the deer won't come near you even if you offer them food ..we put the food on the snow walk away and next morning its gone ...
its funny when people see a real photo and think its photoshopped.
I dont' doubt the situation.. it wouldn't be a stretch to see that many deer in certain areas during a bad snow..
however.... if you look close there's definitely a repeated pattern with some of the deer in that picture.. not 100% sure, but i do alot of work with photoshop and thats just what i'm seeing.. |
Looks like it could be a camera on a tri pod that has taken 30 or more pictures then photo shopped them together
Ok. Who has counted the deer in that pic?
Look at the first Deer in the picture, see the feed on the ground?.........Why do you think the deer are all lined up and all are feeding?
I would imagine it is real. There is only about 80 deer in the picture. On a good night I see about 100 deer pour in and out of one food plot.
I took the picture. IT'S REAL!
Its real. The deer up here "yard" together in the cedars and pines for cover, and simply to be able to move around in the deep snow. With a lot of them together they are able to keep walking trails open. They are not tame, and this does not happen in November gun season. Its Jan-Feb when there is snow, and they are hungry.
it was posted on www.skisoutheast.com/photos. taken by a guy named theo spark on dec.22 in maine. the article said it was a snowmobile trail that had corn poured in it close to some state park.........tony

For those of you pro photoshoppers... look at it closely. You may think they just lined up the deer but look at the angle of the deer. Some have their heads turned to the right... some to the left... some have their legs crossed some have them straight. If you look into the middle you can see quite a few of the deer have their heads up. Not all have them down eating. Its very possible to have that many deer together during the winter. Just the other week me and my family were driving around and we saw well over 300 deer just from driving on the interstate.

I saw a pic of Something similar, but not near as many deer.
