Default take the shot or wait??

so i am sitting on the ground on a large field today, when i notice a large buck on the edge of the woods looking at the field. All i can see is his head and some of the neck. there were no does in the field. buck is looking towards me and i put my 280 on him and think to myself i could pop him right in the adams apple, and game over. I think about it for probably 5 seconds and then buck is gone. 100 yard shot and i am very confident in my gun, browning abolt .280. I am kicking myself!!! What would have u done

Default Right Choice

You made the right choice in not taking the shot. I am a firm believer in not taking a shot unless you are 99.9 % sure you will take the deer. I kick myself around sometimes as well after I have passed up a shot. It is always better to not know than to wound and lose one of these great animals.

if you are 99.9% sure, then you are still unsure, therefor u are taking an unsure shot

last i checked only 100 % was a sure thing

it feels a WHOLE lot better to not take a shot than take one, hit the deer, and not find the deer

Take the shot or wait? You answered it by your actions. As I have and maybe many more. I have one buddy that wont wait for anything, will shoot away boom, boom, boom. Than the areas spoiled and we gotta look for what he hit, or more the likely what he missed. You made a good call. And to be able to go back and see em again...... Good luck
