At 100 yards I can consistently hit the bottom of a drink can and that is all you need to take out a deer's neck.

Experience has show me to take the 1st "best shot" presented to you based upon your abilities and confidence and to not wait on the perfect shot. Is that a ten yard head shot, 20 yard running shot, 50 yard quartering away double lung shot or 100 yard high shoulder/neck shot???? I dont know in you case but in my case all of the above, except the running shot, gets a trigger pulled.

It's better to have waited then to have had a wounded deer down. Plus, it gives you another excuse to head out into the woods.

If it were me in your shoes and I felt I could make the shot, I would not have hesitated. That buck would have dropped in his track for sure. Confidence is everything in this game.

Good call that shows that you are an ethical hunter. Respect the game your hunting. Never take a less-than prefect shot.

I think you subconsiouly made your decision on your own. You must have not been 100% sure.
