Maybe it' s along the same line of a cow eating after-birth? Yummmm!:D

My dog will eat it' s hair after I brush her if she can get to it.

I know sometimes they' ll eat their own velvet, but I wouldn' t think there would be much nutritional value, if any, in hair. Nervous habit maybe? Or maybe just a really strange deer![:-]

They will lick themselves just like a dog or cat,to groom themselves. During this process the loose hair comes off on their tongue. Not being able to do anything else with it they will swallow it.

There are other times when they will " scratch " themselves by rubbing on a tree, etc. They can smell their scent and get curious and lick it, now it' s stuck to their tongue. Not being able to do anything else with it, they swal...
