New bullets

I own a Browning X-Bolt 30-06. I have been using remington corelok 165 grains for the past couple of years. This last year I shot a doe a little far back and the bullet did not exit. She was at 100 yards. What bullet would yall recommend? I would like to stay in the 165 grain area. Thanks.

Well the doe obviously expired or you wouldn't have known the bullet didn't exit. So that means you got your game. I don't see the problem....

Newbie Shooters

and Country Club hunters should buy the most expensive bullets made. That's who they make them for.....

Fusion, or Winchester Supreme Elite.

Corelokts have put a lot of game down. Try some Sierra GameKings.

Yep I like Federal Fusions as well as Federal soft points. I'm not much of a fan of anything Remington made in the last 10 years.

You hit a little far back and didn't get an exit? How far back did you hit the hip?

JagMagMan 12-31-2009 03:56 PM

Nothing wrong with the Core-Locts! Hitting a deer "a little far back" means you could be hitting a belly full of food! That can stop just about any bullet!

No need to change

The Remington Core-Lokt is a fine bullet and does its job for a fair market price bullet. If you don't believe me just look at the thousands of deer killed with it in the past.
