Virginia Hunter Question?
I own some land in Virginia. Another hunter told me today that if you are hunting on private land that you do not have to buy a permit. He said that you call in and get some type of check-in number. Is this guy nuts or did I miss something?

If you are a landowner, you are license exempt. license exempt
|
Thanks for your help! How does this effect the type of weapon used and the sex and number of game killed?
|
You still have to follow DNR's rules
|
I hunt on my father-in-law's land in Central VA with written permission and I abide by all rules and regulations of the state.
Sometimes my father-in-law (landowner) places his own personal rules and restrictions on me and I ALWAYS follow them. |
Seasons and bag limits are still the same as for license holders.

How do you get a check-in number for the deer processor?
|
When you check your kill (still have to take bear to check station) using telephone or internet, you will be issued a confirmation number. Very easy.

Dmap
Apply to the Virginia DMAP program and you can manage your deer population as you see fit.
