First Buck

Short version on story. My wife and I adopted a 10 year old boy and he has been hunting with me this year. He is very much into the hunting aspect and downed his first buck last night.

The buck small but not bad for his first harvest. He was 130 pounds with 6 small points..

The priceless part was when we saw him.... he's eyes got so big, I could hear his heart beating and he looked at me and said " AAWWWW man... I see him... Can I shoot him?"

Since the light was fading fast I told him to take him. He lined up the shot and squeezed the trigger. Now the deer is on it's way to the freezer and a mount is in the works as we speak! ( I promised I'd mount his first deer)

Congratulations!

I share the joy of a first Deer or a Buck having expierenced the same myself this year. The first will be always remembered and he has nothing to be ashamed of for it being a small 6. Mine was a small 7 and it is still exciting to think about weeks later. Savor the moment and let him talk about it as long as he remains excited and want's to share the thrill of the first kill!. Good Hunting!

That's awesome on several different levels. he might be small, but he'll taste plenty good and now that he's got one under his belt, he'll be more confident and patient in the future. Congrats to both of you!
