A buck I call Black Tip!

This buck's got character. A main frame ten with stickers all over it. Taken with ML..

I took a cornering away shot and it hit behind it's eye. Then with two more follow up shots my fifty caliber muzzleloader claimed another trophy!

Okay, ummm. . . . wow. Thats a huge deer, BBD. Where did you take that bruiser? Great deer man, and an oddity on the horn to boot. What caused that, ya think? :confused2:

Don't know? I like to think he stuck another buck with it! Notice how it is rounded and stained?

behind the eye? then 2 follow-up shots? where did those hit? in the ear and hoof?

Canuck33 12-21-2009 05:28 AM

I have shot a few bucks with that coloration its from eating in clover or alfalfa fields or some other green vegeation, the antler gets stained from being raked into the vegetation

The first shot missed the shoulder and caught him on the side of the head, exiting the eye socket! That slammed him on the ground. Then after reloading it got back up but it's shoulder was behind some small trees. So I had to aim towards the back area of the kill zone and squezzed the trigger. After the smoke cleared and I had reloaded, he got back up. Now, I had a perfect front shoulder shot and I let it have it with the Knight, 150grains of gunpowder and a three hundred grain bullet. Droping it for the last time! Then, I reloaded and a doe ran by me and I took her too!
I scibled green to cover the socket.....

Yes, that makes perfect sense! On the 97acrea parcel about 75% was some strange leafy plant, some that had wierd stems and a green colyflower looking seed pod........
