Shot a doe with muzzleloader she acted wierd

well This morning I looked for about 3 hours never found another trace of blood or deer. BUT here is the kicker, When i was walking back out of the thicket I jumped three deer, a button (or lil spike I think) and two does. They ran into the field I usually hunt and where I shot that doe at yesterday. I walked on to get a closer look and the bigger doe was the one I had shot yesterday. There was an entrance hole about inch or something like that below her back and she looked like she was doing fine. I didnt get to see the other side to see if there was an exit hole or not. So that gives me some peace of mind that she is atleast still alive. Maybe I will get another chance in the morning or tommrow evening. Wish me luck

Also, I didn't quite clearly explain my meaning, but I orig. meant a deer can take a shot under the spine, a pass through, and still survive. Whether it really went above the lungs wasn't my point of contention; only that hitting this spot and the deer still be able to live, has shown to be a possibility.
Whether it's impossible to hit under the spine and miss the lungs, this may be true. Point again being it's a vulnerable spot to hit for hunters because sometimes it's not fatal, immediately.

You say he was doing fine - did soneone then kill him so you could tell that the arrow passed below the spine in the chest cavity and missed the lungs. Because that would be the only way to prove that something physically impossible was acomplished.

Your description of the enterance means you hit well above the actual spine - she's fine so go get her.

IM still puzzled on how I even hit her there cuz I know the muzzleloader shoots accuretely ive shot it hundreds of times and she was very very close. Guess i got a BAAAD case of the shakes or something. Its been a few years since ive killed a deer. (got married had a baby, now getting divorced...bunch more stupid stuff lol) And I just havent had the time to get to go. OH well there is allways tommrow

Your description of the hit immediately brings to my mind the image of a deer hit high, near the spine but not low enough to break it... The deer will fall, thrash around, and then get up and run off as if unhurt.. Chances are it will survive... I've seen it happen a number of times..Sometimes the deer was recovered, sometimes not, but NEVER unless it was shot gain, in a more vital spot..
Chances are your deer will be walking around next season, with some scar tissue on it's back and perhaps a little bit wiser..
