Building a foot bridge
I need some ideas on how to build a small retractible foot bridge.
I will only use it when the water is too high to cross anywhere else. I don't want to build it for everyone else as I will be paying for materials and doing all the labor. I also want to be able too raise it so it doesn't get washed away. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |
Go buy an Aluminum extension ladder, one that will be long enough to span the desired distance plus a couple feet on either end for stability.
Than take it home with you every night so some *&^hole doesn't steal it overnight while your not there to prevent them form doing so. |
you tryin to carry this thing in? and how far?
usually a chainsaw, just cut a tree and make it fall over the water. |
2X16X20.. maybe

How about a swing rope? Very cheap

I know some piers around here have wheels on the ends, car tires, perhaps a ladder with some bike tires or somethign would work. These boat piers are hauled out before winter, probably by some sort of vehicle, but the idea is what I'm suggesting...
depending on your situation, dropping some good size stone might be a better idea... |
haha in full hunting gear and with a weapon the use of a rope swing is unethical and dangerous use a ladder you dont even need a new one buy one cheap on craigslist or something I use it by my spot works wonders.

you can cut plans to go across the ladder when its flat so you can walk straight across it safely
|
ladders arent meant for carrying side loads like that. many an aluminum ladder has been used incorrectly often with comical and sometimes tragic results. Do the hip waders if the water isnt too deep.
