Building a foot bridge

I need some ideas on how to build a small retractible foot bridge.
I will only use it when the water is too high to cross anywhere else. I don't want to build it for everyone else as I will be paying for materials and doing all the labor. I also want to be able too raise it so it doesn't get washed away. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Go buy an Aluminum extension ladder, one that will be long enough to span the desired distance plus a couple feet on either end for stability.

Than take it home with you every night so some *&^hole doesn't steal it overnight while your not there to prevent them form doing so.

you tryin to carry this thing in? and how far?

usually a chainsaw, just cut a tree and make it fall over the water.
