A proud Dad
My daughter is 10 years old and this year the WI DNR started the mentor hunting program. It did take long to talk her into hunting. The special youth hunt we had was in early October and it was a cold windy hunt. I felt so bad for her. I told her I would take he out the second weekend of gun season. Friday night we had a doe come in at last light. She shot and missed but the doe only took a couple of steps. I reloaded the gun for her and she shot again and dropped her in her tracks at 109 yards.
I wish I would have got a picture of how she held the gun. She had to hold it under her arm and I had to hold the but of the gun. It's only a .243 but it's almost the same size as her.I had to keep her from jumping out of the stand it was priceless. We tried today to get a buck but there was nothing moving. I hope next year she can pull a bow back. ![]() ![]() |
Congrats! I'm sure dad was ready to get out of that stand as bad as she was!

Sweet! I'd be proud as well. Interesting comment on how she holds the gun. My daughter is 10 as well, and has a bit of trouble holding her .243.

Congradulations to your daugher! :)

With the scope and all the layers of clothes she couldn't see the scope. So I just hold the butt of the gun and it works fine. I just hope she never gets a scope eye.
