Talking Ohio 11 Pointer, & #5 for the year. With Pics

Well I was off work from November 13th thru the 22nd and it payed off. With having shot 4 Does already this year I really wanted to concentrate on a buck during my vacation time. Early that week was a bit breezy and rainy but I hunted regardless from early morning to sunset. I told my wife that I would not hunt Sunday the 22nd, so that I could spend some time with the family. So Saturday evening rolled around and I started having some doubts about getting my buck during this week. I seen alot of action but nothing worth shooting. At 4:37pm Saturday the 21st, I heard a deer blow and then 5 min later had 3 does come running in behind me at 15 yards. Hoping that maybe they were being trailed by a buck I stood there anticipating for one to make his appearence, but nothing... Then at 4:56pm, I heard something coming in from my right side, something that was heavy hoofed at that. Sure enough, an 11 pointer come walking thru just looking around. He started quartering away from me and I picked a shooting lane where I thought I would get a 20 yard shot at him. He came right to my lane when I let out a "MEEEE!". He stopped right where I needed him to and I let the arrow fly. The arrow found it's mark and it turned out to be a 27 yard shot thru the lungs that brought him down 29 yards from where I shot him. What a year!!! With the freezer already busting at the seams, I donated all the meat to Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH), had him caped out for mounting, and dropped him off to my taxidemist today. Wow, what a feeling. A true sense of accomplishment after only getting one doe last year due to my wife being preg. with our now 11 month old daughter, and needing some extra help. Everyone have a good and safe Holiday Season, and keep those arrows flying. Good luck to you all.

He had obviously been fighting quite a bit. He had gotten poked in the eye, head several old scars around his ear, right eye, and also had 3 scabs on the back of his neck.
