Age of this Deer? (Pic)
#3
6 1/2 years. He's not that old. His face doesn't look all gray and he has a bit of muscle tone left, but not like when he was younger. I wouldn't guess by his rack because he could be lacking in genetics.
He's a Hoss though, for sure!
Nice pics!

I'm no expert but I thought the same thing or getting close maybe 5 1/2 to 6 1/2. He does have a thick body though. The deer around here that are on the down swing typically are skinner than they would normally be. But it's hard to tell how old he is in the picture because you really can not tell judging his rack. I mean it is a pretty thin for his body mass but that could just be because of his diet and what available to him. Lets see what other think.

I have seen him (or his twin) for a few years now. He was most impressive in 2006. He had a tall, wide rack. A good 24" outside spread. And big brows. He was the boss, too. We watch him beat up and run off two 8-pointers one night. Each year he has gotten more narrow.

Looking GOOD!!!
The key to me is that his haunches are still round and full, add that to his girth (which we're kind of guessing at since there's no front or rear view... don'cha hate it when the deer don't pose properly for the camera <grin>), deep chest, relatively straight back, etc. and I think you have a Buck in his prime (5 1/2 to 6 1/2) but clearly this or next is his last prime year given how long you've been watching him and the other signs... This is a deer that anyone would be proud of, and could be a QDMA Poster Boy...
