There's no such thing as dark in this particular situation. I believe he should have looked more that evening.
good luck finding the deer.

Ok guys I need help with this. I was thrown another curve ball. I walked about a mile away to think marsh grass. Walking threw I found 3 seperate beds with blood spots in them. The blood was thick. He had a couple pathes leading to the river that was about 50 yards away. I found blood on trees and grass where he was walking. It all was dark red and seemed old. We walked almost the whole thing and nothing. We are going back tomorrow morning to keep looking. No guts or anything laying around. Do you think hes even dead? Any help would be so greatly appreciated!!!

Hard to say High Country Killer.
Do you know about how high the blood was on the trees and vegetation? This can give you an idea of where the arrow struck. Also, you did say the blood seemed old. I'm thinking the dark red blood is a muscle hit. If that is so, he may just be nursing a wound and will survive.
Anyway, I applaud your effort in trying to locate this deer. If you don't find him, do NOT let this incident rock your confidence. It can happen to anyone.
