Deer and Turkeys?
 

Hey all, I was out scouting today at the WMA I usually hunt, and I was out in an area I haven't been to before. However, I WILL be back there again due to much better deer sign than I've been seeing. Anyway, I was walking a firebreak by the boundary fence and saw two does and at least one turkey all together. Is it common for the two to run together? Might be a good spot to keep in mind!

I don't know if it's normal or not. I've never seen it, though. I suppose that in areas where both a plentiful, they really have no choice but to coexist closely. I'm sure that they realize that one is no threat to the other as well. In fact, the turkey's keen eyesight, combined with the deer's excellent hearing and nose, would make an excellent defensive combination against predators that might prey on both.

I've seen deer and turkeys in the same food plot a lot of times.

Just said to myself this past Saturday as I saw some turkeys, the deer will be somewhere around, and like clockwork, there they were.

You don't realize how true that statement is,they kinda co-exist
here in Oklahoma and I have seen the both together many times.
and believe it or not they pay close attention to each other and
if one or the other show sign of distress, they are all gone!
If they shared each others senses you wouldn't get either one!

It's very common for deer and turkeys to be together...especially when feeding, at least here in WI. I've taken birds right out of my blind with deer actually in the field not far away from them with a tom strutting in front of my dekes. Careful, because they'll work in a tandem and if you spook the birds, the deer won't be far behind after the alarm clucks are sounded...
