Deer hunters vs Raccoon hunters
 

For years people were saying coon hunters are not allowed on there land to help out the local farmers. And people still wont because they say the dogs chase deer off there land and on the neighbors. In south carolina they did a study that shows the impact on deer in 2 areas one area dogs could run and one area they werent allowed. I cant even count the different times i walked within 10 yards of a bedded deer and it just stayed there. Deer are goofy at night it seems like. They dont get scared like they do in the day where any other hunting activity is taking place. But just look at the website maybe i can make some of you guys realize us coonhunters are harmless when it comes to deer and to help out a farmer to get coons off his land. Thanks for looking

The deer pay little attention to coon dogs. I used to run coon dogs about 5 nights a week and deer hunt the same place in the morning. The deer acted the same if I hunted the night before or not. I have walked up on deer bedded within 100 yds. of the dogs treed and them never get up unless you shoot the coon. I don't know why people get so over protective of deer during deer season but they act like your trying to mug them if you ask to coon hunt near there place.

If a coon hunter has permission from the landowner to legally hunt it shouldn't make any difference.

You're preaching to the choir. If you want change, you'll have to make this info known where farmer landowners can see your message. Posting here won't cut it. Good info though, but I don't see it helping your cause. If you want change within your area, go see the farmers!

It's pretty common for an unsuccessful hunter to pass the blame.
Folks with little experience with hounds & hunting make that claim.
Fact is, unless you are training dogs to run deer, any hound that will
run deer isn't going to tree cat/coon/bear regular. Most houndsmen I know will kill the dog if he can't break him of it. If the pack runs past and jump deer, it seems the deer (Blacktail anyway) just stand aside and watch the race. Elk will leave the area though.

i know but its not the farmers that get upset there happy its the people who own only a couple acres next to the farmer are the ones that have a bird and most of them go on hunting websites to better there skills and land so i figured id put it up on a deer hunting website if i even make one person realize this then its worth it

i got no problem with coon hunters it actually is fun to do an deer dont care cause the dogs dont care
