Default red deer doe

Over the weekend my dad and I booked a hunt over the net in a state forest. Another 2 blokes also booked so we met each other at the intended hunting spot. we went to another spot for about 1 hour till 5pm.We decided to go to our intended spot to hunt and got to the camp and split up and went for a walk.me and dad seen nothing and come back to one of the other blokes and he said he only just seen a red deer. He radioed his mate and told him that a deer was in the trees so the other bloke went in and about 3minutes later we heared boombut he thought he missed but it was to dark to tell so he said he would look in the morning. the next day came where we went back to the spot. we were almost about to get back to car when we got told he got it so we had to go down and skin it and get some meat off it. The bloke got it with a .270 ruger with a leupy on it.

So let me get this straight, your friend shot at a red deer that was in a tree when it was to dark to tell if he hit it or not?

Was this "Deer camp" or "Beer camp"?

Sounds to me you should pick your hunting buddies more wisely!

Seeing deer in the tree's at night and shooting at them can not make for safe hunting!

Way to go Bush Pig! Sounds like you gave the guy a hand with the red deer and came home with some good meat!! I have never hunted red deer before but have seen some really nice stags on the television. If I am not mistaken I believe they are related to our Elk?
