.308 cartridge

Not sure what your asking since you state it shoots great and are impressed? Appears you've already been shooting it with some type of ammo??? With deer and the .308 dang near anything 150 - 180gr will work. 200 yard and under no need for any polymer or other tipped bullet, unless that is what shoots best in your rifle.

Ive been using 165s for years in my 308 and I tell ya, its more accurate than the 150s and 180s. Ive shot them all...Id go with the leverelvolutions in your marlin. I use them in my 35 Rem model 760. I will warn you now, they are loaded a little hotter than your standard old Rem or Win 308s They use a hotter powder and it cleans real well. Try em in the 165s if you can find them, you wont be sorry.

If the rifle cartridge is the 308 Marlin Ex., I have no experience with that cartridge at all. If it is the 308 Win., I do. Since about 1962. This cartridge has been my deer hunting cartridge of choice for decades, though I have used others as well. With the 308 Win., I have taken deer cleanly from 10 or so yards out to about 350 yards. The key is to find the load that is most accurate in your particular rifle. Any decent hunting 30 cal. bullet from 150 gr. to 165 gr. should be ideal for the 308 Win. My personal favorites are the Nosler Partition or Sierra Game King. There are many, many more excellent hutning bullets out there as well.
