Hunting in the rain?

Anyone got tips for hunting in the rain? I know it's not much fun, but it's the last weekend for early muzzy here in Iowa and I'm gonna sit out there rain or shine. Anyone ever had any luck while hunting in the rain? Any tips or tactics??

deer live in the outdoors. some conditions are more favorable than others but in my experience a slight to moderate rain doe not affect deer movement

I like to use my pop up blind when hunting in the rain. Keeps me dry for the most part which enables me to stay out longer.

Hunt food plots near bedding areas, more so than water holes.

The sloppier the better. Wear no cotton, all synthetic or wool. Goretex is great, but a poncho is good also. Carefull in the tree stands. With a muzzleloader, try to keep the breech area covered best you can ( a spare floppy hat works well for this. I keep a couple papertowels up my sleeve to dab the scope dry with periodically.

I avoid the rain because I'm a weenie.....but my deer cam has seen plenty of activity on average rainy days....so I don't think the deer get too hunkered down unless its a real tempest.

Get GOOD rain gear and you won't notice the difference.
