Yes, deer do eat pumpkins. In fact, they are one of their best delicacies. If you are looking to deter them from getting to the pumpkin patch, you can build a fence, cover the patch with a net, use a dog, deer repellant, or motion-activated sprinkler.

Do deer eat pumpkins?
A old man I know who runs a farmers market stand asked me if I wanted his pumpkins he didn't sell for Halloween. Said he's got atleast a truck load, I don't know what the heck to do with em, I said ya just cause u could tell he didn't wanna fool with them. Not trying to operate a massive bait pile here, just curious if I dumped in a field if they would eat em? Also would I need to bust em

We raised Pumpkins for decades. But had to quit cause the Deer have decimated em.First they chewed the flowers back. Then what flowers did get pollinated the Deer ate the Pumpkins right off the vine when they got to the size of a Cantaloupe and still green.Any that escaped that got gnawed and chewed and ruined well before they could be picked. We raised acres of em.Same with sweet corn and had to quit that also for the same reason.
