What size for rattling antlers?

I have a small set of six point antlers (from a deer that was probably 1.5. yrs old when taken, maybe 2.5) and was wondering if they work well for rattling. Anytime I've seem someone rattling, they use bigger antlers. Does it make a difference?

im not sure. I jsut found a dead 9 pointer that i took the antlers for rattling, he would probly only score like 100" - 110" i dont really know how much difference it makes

Honestly it really doesn't matter to me and from what i have used both small and big antlers, they all still do the same job.

actually, bigger antlers make a much different sound than small ones...

my thinking is that deer can tell the difference in that sound and know whether its 2 bruisers going at it or 2 scrubs going at it...

but, ive seen results from a tiny set of 1.5yo antlers that i use...and a NICE set off a pretty good buck for our area my buddy uses..his are big, heavy mass, and bladed..they had an awesome sound...

i NEED a nice set off a 1.5 or 2.5yo buck that has tines on it....lol..mine are real busted up...i actually have to work at it to get them to make noise lol...but ive rattled in deer with them...and i do like them coz they are small...

Truth, I tried rattling for 15+ years granted not every time I went out but enough to say so, the area I hunt has a healthybuck population so I couldnt' believe I couldn't get it to work. I always used small horns and by that I mena a set that was 100-115" 8 point, last season I grabbed a mixed set of big maybe 140+ sheds I had, no lie the first morning I cracked them I had a 3 1/2 come running in before I finished the sequence, I rattled up 3 more bucks that day and had luck the rest of the season maybe coincedence but I doubt it. My advice, small ones may work, but bigger are better, I will garauntee you that.

I agree with canuck, mine are a green set (off a harvested animal) 150 buck. I don't like sheds or found deeer (unless they are fresh), sound IMHO is different then a green set. I saw the brows off my rattlin' horns...saves knuckles.
