Too early for scents?
Im going up to my property in New York this weekend for the opener of bow... Im wondering if its too early for scents this time of year? I want to try some code blue dominant buck... What do y'all think about this?
Tommarows gonna be a long day in school :s6: |
Depends...Are you seeing scrapes??? Are you seeing bucks or does with black hocks???
|
I havent had much time to scout much yet, but I know at this time of year last year, there were scrapes... I made a mock scrape over my camera, so we will see when I get up there.

can always use a scent, just a matter of which one is right to use etc...
personally i'd ust fresh frozen or nothing...but ya I'd use just some buck urin this time of year, least around here if anything. |
I'd say NO,
not until you see them in the chase phase. Maybe some regular doe urine,or a food scent would be good. If apple trees happen to be around your area use them. When I lived in Up-State N.Y. this time of year I went to the store and bought a bag of apples and quartered them the night before. Then I dumped them on the ground about 30 yards from my stand, and that almost always worked for me. |
Yes, there are lots of apple trees in my area but; its illegal to bait in NY so that would be a no go. I think i might give some buck urine a shot

Then Try soaking a rag in apple juice and hang it in a tree, Attractant not baiting! |
Soaking a rag in apple juice?! I have never heard that before, any one else ever try this with success?
