Superstitious Hunters????
 

I just want to know how many superstitious hunters are out there? A few years ago I had a friend of mine give me a Canadian coin which has a Moose on one side of the coin. Not a deer but close enough. When I'm sitting in my stand and start getting frustrated because I haven't seen anything move all day I start rubbing my coin and all of a sudden I start seeing deer. Maybe its just coincedence? Or I'd like to think that my coin is bringing me good luck. Do you hunters bring good luck charms with when you go into the woods on opening morning? I'd like to know.

I dont bring my gut knife with me....I leave it in truck...shoot deer...walk back get knife...blood trail...find deer...take pics....eat back straps

I pray and sacrifice goats for the weather man. He rewards me with cold fronts.

i bring my sideburns in with me all season. i have been ever since i was able to grow them. plus they look pretty cool (my girlfriend doesn't think so).

i shave my beard every year the night befor opening day

oh yeah..and gun season I dont shave

I always wear my Browning hat when I hunt, regardless of the animal.

I grow a full beard each year and also wear the same shirt on opening day

I always hear a hoot owl the morning before the hunt. If I don't hear it I never see anything.

i wear my lucky socks when ever i can ,i would post them but dont want to reveal my secrets:biggrin:

I have a lucky bowhunting hat and a camo browning sweatshirt I wear on opening day of general gun season. I'm also hesitate to buy a new bow as I don't want to lose the 'mojo' I have with my old one. I always leave my flashlight at the bottom of the tree I am climbing. If I see raccoons, I will see a buck (it happens alot too, twice this past weekend)

I ask GOD for to send the deer my way and for a clean shot, and it works often !!!!!

I have to leave my camera in my truck. Better if I forget it altogeather. If its in my pack, I'll see nothing.

You can only Pee in a Gatorade bottle that had Fruit Punch in it or your luck will change........:s3:

Whether this constitutes superstition is a matter of theological debate, but I invoke the intercession of St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters, and often carry a St. Hubert medallion on the hunt.

we have a buck's ball sack mounted on the wall. Everyone gives it a rub on the way out the door!

I play the same song every morning in truck on my way to my hunting location

I don't recall when it began, but for as long as I can remember the first tape (now CD) played in vehicle as we pull out on a hunting trip is Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant"
I don't rember why, but the thought of leaving without that tune on the CD player is not acceptable.
Maybe not superstition, but surely tradition.

Why is this?

I always carry my schrade sharp finger knife that I bought when I was 17. I got my first deer that year after 4 years of nothing, have killed multiple deer every year since and I'm almost 44, well over 100 deer killed so far. A buck every year and 1-6 does. It seems lucky anyway until I leave it stuck in a tree or on the ground where I've field dressed. Can't count how many times I've had to take long hikes to find my lost knife, but it seems like 25 or so. So it's lucky for killing deer, handy for field dressing them and great for a workout, and I'm always lucky enough to find it!

I have a lucky ATV if i drive my racing quad ( exhaust hits 95 decibels ) out to the stand then i always see deer but if i drive the old quite one then i don't see anything. Weird i know!! :)

I allways try to have venison (steak or sausage) for breakfast when hunting...having a little bit of the "spirit" in me.

I always take a Knife my dad made. it's a cheap little paring knife from the grocery store that he took the wood handle off and inserted the blade into a antler.. then made a leather sheath. It ALWAYS goes with me, I must have been 15 when he started making them, I got mine before anyone else other then himself.. Now that he has past I will never hunt without it.. at 25 years old it has seen better days.. he is the one who taught me to hunt and instilled that fact that hunting is more then killing game.. And for that i I am truley indebted..

I have a small troll doll that I've been using since 1977, my wife laughs but I've always have good luck taking it in the woods with me. But I'm not superstitous. good luck deerman:biggrin:

heres 1 4 u if i dont have my gun or bow in hand i wont kill squat so i make sure to always carrie 1 or the other b 4 entering the woods lol

I listen to Fred Bear by Ted Nugent on the way out to EVERY hunt. Always gets me pumped and ready to get out there and hunt!

i have a part of the tail of my first deer that i killed and everytime i remember to touch it before i leave the truck i kill a deer. oh and i always eat the same food on huntin days.

Cardeer necklace, always seems to work, have loaned it out a couple times to young hunters and it has worked for them. My daughter won't go hunting unless I have the Cardeer necklace on.

Where's "a bar of soap"? He carries a lucky bar of soap in his backpack :)

I have had a couple nice bucks come when I had toilet paper in hand and looking for a spot to squat. Got them both, and I shot one while taking a leak once. Don't know if he died from the wound or the shock of seeing a heavily armed man with his junk hanging out. He may have thought far worse things were about to happen than being shot!

:barmy::barmy:i grow a full beard and if i dont kill anything opening weekend the beard has to go.OH ALMOST FORGOT NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT MY BROWNING A BOLT OR MY DRENALIN.

I start off each hunt with a prayer...Everytime.

I'm superstitious too.............I don't hunt when the season is closed.
