The doctor has forbid you from stand hunting?? Just curious as to what other mundane activities he has also bannned you from. Driving?? Riding a bike?? Sleeping on a bed (god knows we have all fallen that 3 ft at some point in our adult lives). Living Life?? Let the doctor practice his craft in the office. Let you live your life outside of it. Contrary to popular belief you can be succesful hunting from the ground. It requires more attention to detail but it can be done. Be careful it is addicting due to the rush you feel with game only feet from you at eye level.

Its funny around here we have never used a tree stand, maybe because in Texas their aint no damn trees straight or tall enough for one LOL.
We have alway done it from the ground. |
A ground blind can be as easy as folding open a lawn chair between two cedar trees or brush piles. Scent control will be much more important though. I would get a second opinion, or totally ignore that doctor. If you can draw a bow, why cant you climb a ladder? I mean it's your body, and you don't want to take serious risks but does your doc know you draw a bow? Is it the possibility of a fall that is the concern?
