Deer stand snacks

Guys, what are some of your favorite (low scent) deer stand snacks. In the past I have always had some trail mix and some water on those long all day hunts. Just looking for some diferent ideas.

HooSIER|Hunter 09-22-2009 05:19 PM

I always take water and trail mix as well or dried fruit

I've got to have my SNICKERS bars! :happy0001: I pack a decent lunch when I'm doing all day rut hunts. Hunting hungry is not my idea of fun.

peanut butter and jelly. if i have a sammich thats what it is! jerky, granola bars, m&ms. those are few more i usually have around. i dont think any of those would deter deer, at least i havent noticed.

biggamefish 09-22-2009 05:35 PM

I like a peanut butter sandwich also. It is a hunter's sirlon. I always pack granola bars to. They are sealed andeasy to pack.

longhunter 66 09-22-2009 05:42 PM

I pack jerky, fruit, cherry twister, water, dew, and coffee. The jerky and saguge is homemade by my wife.

Jerky, when a deer comes by and looks at me I hold up the jerky and say any closer and this is you!!!!!!LOL

1shotkill1993 09-22-2009 05:59 PM

Yeah granola bars and gatorade do it for me. I never do all day hunts so no need for much more than that

cleveland5 09-22-2009 06:08 PM

i take apples and throw the core out with the other apples in front of my stand.

Seriously I like dried pineapple, banana or apple.

And one of my favorite is a plain baked potato.

I like to take a peanut butter sanwich and a thermos of coffee. Many times I have had to set my coffee down to shoot a deer between 10am and 1pm.

Just water and Copenhagen.

Jimmy S 09-23-2009 05:58 AM

I hunt all day, dark 'til dark and all I take is a small bottle of water and a few Tootsie Pops. Every year, I get a big box of 100 Tootsie Pops and by the end of the season, most are gone. Of course I have help from my camp buddys.

BR44 09-23-2009 06:18 AM

You should carry that apple core out of the woods with you so you don't get caught by the CO for baiting. Be careful what you say because we don't need another baiting debate around here.:rolleyes::eek::rolleyes::eek::rolleyes::eek:

To the point of this post. I love PB&J, goldfish crackers, granola bars, and jerky. When it is really cold out though I always make sure to keep the granola bars in my jacket pocket. A frozen granola bar is like eating a brick that tastes good.

texas8point 09-25-2009 10:10 AM

pop tarts, peanuts, "drinks"......

The Outdoorsman 09-25-2009 10:15 AM

Homemade trail mix, samiches, big gatorade, and jerkey.

jcscan71 09-25-2009 12:21 PM

I like to take peanutbutter or cheese crackers. Only thing is to take them out of their original package and put them in a ziplock baggie. Otherwise it seems as though unwrapping them from their original packaging is the noisest thing I can do. Wash it down with bottled water.

wis_rifle_hunter 09-25-2009 01:52 PM

usually i take some water and some fruit bars

turkey guide 09-25-2009 02:16 PM

Trailmix, jerky, and big gatorades. The gatorades have two purposes, first hydration, then the bottles are used for scent control and to stuff other small trash into. Some might go on to use them as targets after season, but I just pack them out and give em a toss into the dumpster at my after huntin beer stop.

allmightyhunter13 09-25-2009 05:40 PM

To be honest with me anything i can find i think i might want lmao!!!... But usually just water, a pepsi after im there for a while and want something other than water, snickers, and couple of apples!

castnblastkev 09-25-2009 06:30 PM

anything from granola bars to peanut m&ms to mini muffins. i dont know if its just me... but it seems like everytime i take a snack break in the stand i see deer. Two seasons ago i actually shot a buck with m&ms in my mouth. but as for drinks i usually go with powerade or water

FlDeerman 09-25-2009 07:08 PM

Same as Cleavland and bananas,I like them.

countryboy6990 09-27-2009 02:45 PM

Pop, jurky, sandwitches, candy ect ect

Tobe_B 09-27-2009 07:36 PM

Depends on the part of the season, start of the season I usually only have some poptarts (in a ziplock bag of course) and my coffee and some water. By rut I've got sandwiches, chips and poptarts and jerky and coffee and more water...I kinda don't like to be hungry when I'm hunting.

mackesr 09-28-2009 09:19 AM

Dang, I thought I was the only one to bring PB&J samitches into the woods. It was my secret weapon!!! It never fails that a deer will come out right in the middle of my eatiing my peanut butter and jelly samitche. Then I have to set it down and pick up my bow......you know.

JonnyNov 09-28-2009 10:24 AM

I always get worried about bringing things that smell strongly like jerky, coffee, etc. into the woods. I can't believe how many people actually do that! i always stick to something natural like apples.
