would a show like this ever make it.

do you think that a hunting show that they would only hunt on public land and just shoot deer not like big or anything just normal size deer just like what ever is the fisrt thing to walk by you. so pretty much brown is down. im not if its like this in other states but i wisconsin on public land if you see a deer you pretty much have to shoot it because you probably woont tsee it again because someone else would have shot it already. so do you think that a show like this would make it.

I would watch it, espeasly if they show you how they did it.
And explan what they are doing, and why.
It would help a lot of new comers to deer hunting.
A lot of people hunt public land, its the only land thay can afford to hunt.

Eastmans hunting is just such a show. They only hunt fair chase public land out West.

Although it isn't a "brown is down" type of show. They do go after "quality" animals.

OhioSlayer 09-01-2009 07:42 PM

I think it would make it because it relates alot more to hunters now a days without their own land.

FlDeerman 09-01-2009 08:48 PM

I watched an old Jackie Bushman show where he was hunting in Alabama on his place. The buck he shot was a regular Bama buck,it was one of the best shows I saw him do.In answer to the question, heck yes I'd watch it.

Doe Dumper 09-02-2009 12:04 AM

Eastman's has always been my favorite hunting show. However back in the early hunting video days I loved to watch Dan Fitzgerald shoot anything that came under his stand be it a small doe to a nice buck. That kind of show gave heart to a new bowhunter having a rough time back then. The shows and videos that are out now as a vast majority do nothing except discourage hunters and cram equipment down their throat that they absolutely dont need.

So yeah Id watch it. Thats kinda the way Fitzgeralds videos used to be for the most part. They were instructional and definitely not a trophy only infomerical.

SWThomas 09-02-2009 01:40 AM

I'd watch it. But there's absolutely no way it would make it very long.

kodiakhuntmaster 09-02-2009 03:33 AM

I would watch it.

It's been done before and none of the shows have made it very long. That type of show doesn't keep sponsors like the other ones do because they don't show many products taking those monster bucks consistently.

(In reality, how many products actually do work as good as they market them?)

The hosts won't usually change their gear three times a season just to show off more products either. And those shows cater to more realistic and traditional outdoorsmen that don't go out and buy every new gadget and gizmo that comes out, nor do they commonly buy many of the DVDs.

Even though they'll have many fans and represent a larger majority of hunters, the fact remains that they'll be beat out by all the other shows that only hunt on private ranches under any condition (high fence, corn piles) as long as the deer has a magnanomous rack. The type that likes those shows usually buy up any product that the host pushes and eats up any recommendation that the host makes.

The professional hunting industry is rough and takes a whole lot of money to stay competitive in. Shows that don't bring in that money consistently won't last long.

It wouldn't get aired because no company would sponsor it.

timbercruiser 09-02-2009 05:01 AM

The Eastmans are the first ones that come to mind. As far as shooting anything that comes around then Nugent isn't a "horn" hunter although he hunts pens, ranches as well as his own land. I don't think the Joe Blow type of hunts would get sponsors for advertising.

BigBuck95 09-02-2009 05:03 AM

Finally!
This would be great, especially if they showed how they did everything, like they do on the big name shows. Most people don't get yearly opportunities to shoot Boone and Crocketts, so this show would be for the average Joes. I would definatly watch this, and they could probably get like SCI to sponsor, like Shockey.
That would be the coolest thing since ice. :party0007:

I agree. If it was something that a lot of folks would watch, it would already be on TV.
I too would welcome such a show. But money is the biggest factor. Sponsors pay big bucks and to endorse such a show and unfortunately, not a good investment.

I am also sick of watching hunting shows take place in Texas or over crops in the midwest but that sells because people want to see hugh bucks. One thing you will never see are shows taking place in the northeast. NY, NJ and New England. Too expensive to produce with low kill results. Plus, could these so-called professional hunters come up here, scout with their team with no private land or guides and drag out a bruise like I see elsewhere? I have my doubts.

krub6b 09-02-2009 08:28 AM

I'd watch but sponsorship would be a problem. Maybe if an organization like Whitetails Unlimited sponsored it, and it had a few good corporate sponsors that only sponsored the hunters they already employ to take some does and management deer. But anybody that's established will want to be reimbursed for face time...:confused2:

Any show that would be anything close to my every day hunting experiences - I would certainly watch. I watch a lot of the shows that are on the OUT channel and VS but none I watch - can I relate to.

jklink 09-02-2009 10:43 AM

If they show more than a seconds of hunting footage for the entire 30 min timeslot i'm sure lots of people would watch. am i the only one sick and tired of sitting for 30 min to watch about 2 minutes of hunting footage and the rest crap and advertisements? I literally can dvr a hunting show and fast forward all the junk and watch the actual hunt in less than 5 min. and that 5 min is including the time i spend fast forwarding.

mossberghunter93 09-03-2009 08:20 AM

I'd watch it I mean I LOVE too watch deer hunting so thats deer hunting right? The lack of big bucks wouldnt be as nice but Icould deal for sure.

outdoorsman4life_103 09-03-2009 08:50 AM

ABSOLUTELY! and i agree that if you did a bit of teaching as to where you are and why you picked the spots you are hutning, etc.. I also hunt in WI and I know the brown its down feling.. cause if you dont shoot it, the neighbor will!

I love The Nugg! He may not be the most skilled hunter or ever hunt free range but he is a great ambassador for hunting and gun owners rights.

Western MA Hunter 09-03-2009 09:47 AM

i'd watch that..

dog1 09-03-2009 10:09 AM

shows

KodiakHM is right, there was a show on the OD channel. I believe hunters were from Pennsylvania and they hunted for the enjoyment and meat. They came across just as happy to take a young 4 or 5 point buck as they would a eight pointer.

I actually liked the show, but as some have said, they didn't last long.

I'm not so sure it wouldn't float. If a lot of hunters where watching, they could still have commercials outside the show. The hunters wouldn't have to be product whores.I'd sure be a big fan.I watched a show last night and the guy wouldn't shoot because the buck had a broken G2,I wanted to be sick.I'd have emptied my rifle, shot all my arrows what ever I had.

Bergcrane2 09-03-2009 06:42 PM

Mike Avery's show used to be that way. He's doing what all the other shows are doing now. It boils down to $$$$$. No mulah, no show. Look at his sponsors now. http://www.outdoormagazine.tv/html/t...nsponsors.html
