Lots of does, what to do??

We have a lot of does around here and we want to know the best way to balance the herd. Do we go for the lead or dominant ones, or the subordinates? The dominant one here this year has twin buck babies. We aren't sure if we are better off taking the big ones or the others, but we think we should take some of them either way. Thanks.

Older if you can get them(most are smart as old bucks). More likely to have twins than youngins.

Shoot any of them you can get a bead on.

I'd shoot any of them and put em in the freezer!I hunt for the meat, but when the 13 point walked out,i put him on the ground!!

Yes we hunt for the meat too, so does are fair game for us and usually what we shoot. Thanks!!

It doesn't matter, a doe is a doe

I agree. On our lease we usually see a family group with an older mature doe, a 1 & 1/2 year old from that nanny's previous year's birthing, and a fawn or two. We try the shoot the 1 & 1/2 year old because they (1) have decent body weight (2) are mighty good eating, and (3) less likely to have twins than the older gal.

If you have any does that didnt produce last year, get rid of them. they more than likely cant reproduce. Thats what we do. Any does with fawns we let walk, as our winters are more harsh than most across the US, and them little guys need their mommas during the difficult season.
