Trail Cam Placement

Just bought the Jim Shockey edition Stealth Cam 8 megapix cam. Was wondering the best spot to put it? I just wanna see what all I have in my woods before I start picking things out. What would be the best place? Like a food source or a heavy trail or..?

Either some bait or a heavily used trail.

I would put some corn and buck jam (apple) on the heavy used trail .

I like crop fields. Usually try to find a trail that leads into the inside corners of any kinds of crops.

Any little pockets of bean fields near woods sections. I like to watch a field a night or two and watch where the deer are coming to the bean field and working then go in about middle of the day using scent control and set up where I saw them on the edge of the field.

This time of year a mineral site(cheap salt block/ trophy rock/ deer cane) is a real good place to find bucks. If you dont have one established already I would just put it on a corn pile. It usually takes a few months for them to start coming good for the salty stuff. I think it has to rain alot to mix it with the soil first.

I also like to use cameras to find trails that are used more in the daytime rather just at night. You dont so many pictures of 20 deer feeding at a corn pile or a monster buck every night, but that's some good info for the fall.
