Default Food plots

Does anyone grow food plots on their hunting property???
I' m debating on growing some type of deer/turkey foor on my property......the problem is that I only own 11 acres and it' s all swamp and bush.
At the moment I have to trails running through the property from the south end to the north end and I have a small river that cuts through one corner of the property. What should I do?

Should I cut out some clearings and try growing small plots?
If so how big? What kind of food/seeds should I plant?

You should ask this question in the Quality Deer Management forum. There are good informants there that may never visit this forum.

We have a bunch of food plots. First thing I would do is lay out a couple of 3/4 acre or better plot locations and hire a dozier.

All swamp and bush ? That' s great deer habitat , would you consider adopting me ? I have a job , and I don' t eat much . Seriously , small food plots can sometimes out perform larger ones if you plant the right items . High protein foods like clover , alfalfa , and sorghum will attract them regardless of plot size . It wouldn' t hurt to make mineral licks either early in the year . Plant an apple tree , and a persimmon tree or two . They don' t take up much space , and you can find both in nursery and seed catalogs . Plant small patches of cover like honeysuckle and muscadine grapes to make them feel safer , and provide more browse .
