Thanks guys. I thought the same thing and had the notion of saying something but didn't. I usually take my heads to a veteran taxi that does incredible work, but i wanted a quicker turn-around on this particular deer and i paid for it. Learned a lesson.....patience is a virtue. Thanks again!

This is a buck that my regular taxidermist did for me...this buck was a pig and you can tell in the mount...excellent work, which is why I went back time after time.....can't beat a patient and meticulous taxi!

Default Mount

I think your Taxi did a very nice job on the mount itself. Everything looks nice and proportioned well. Sorry you're not happy with the neck size. I try to measure the deer in front of my clients ( if they are not frozen) so we both know what the measurements are and what to expect on the finished mount. I order the form from the neck size AFTER IT HAS BEEN SKINNED.The finished mount will reflect the size that the neck was when I measured it in front of the client.

I don't think the cape on the mount is even the same deer. The mount has a double throat patch which doesn't show up on your field photograph. Your taxi may have swapped out a smaller neck sized cap for the mount he gave you and kept the big boy's cape for himself.

naaa, the buck that i shot did have the double throat patch, thats how i know it was a trimming/form ordering issue. but good observation!
