Default 2008 Mount

Finally got my mount back from last season. I've got an issue with how it was done. I'd appreciate y'all taking a look. Maybe I'm being too picky...

Here's a side view. I think it's interesting the way his G-2's sweep to the back...

Three bucks from the same lease. Left to right, 2008, 2007 and 2004.

Here's a link to my original post about the 2008 buck. The taxidermist pulled his jaw and aged him at 5 1/2.

Nice deer for sure. Obviously the gene pool is healthy. Aside from the obvious time relationship differences, these guys all look very similar. The left ear on the left-most mount seems lower and turned (less flared). What was your issue? I've sure seen much worse looking mounts.

The ear is the problem. Not sure whether I like it. Maybe it'll grow on me.

The problem I have is that he said they were trying to be "artistic" because deer can turn their ears in a wide range of angles, and he thought maybe I'd like something that wasn't the same old same old... I think that if he wants to be an artist, he should mount a few of his own heads in different poses, and then give customers a choice. Don't just assume that someone wants something artistic or different.

He said he'll fix it if I want him to, but, I thought I'd ask around and get some opinions...

i think it looks morerealistic than the standard worn out "alert" look that most taxidermist do. when i first looked at it, the first thing that popped into my head was a deer that was wiggling his ear to "shoo off a fly". i've also seen them move their ear like this when they hear something off to the side or are irritated by another deer that is close by. my next mount will have some sort of character like yours.

Just my two cents. The racks say different, but the facial appearance of all of those deer look young.

Just what i like. I would have went with a thicker neck on it looks a lil thin. I hate the ear, but love all three are good deer.
