UMMM...the other 15 acres is somewhat open with some growed up brush(not very tall and not to bad thick)their is one big pond and a small one(both of em close to the highway within 40 yards)the surrounding land is ALLLL open for cattle,it is all grass(not growed up at all).I left out something walla go,the deer are nocturnal mainly.

RE: Food Plot's?
if the deer are living in the wood lot then i would try to plant 1/2 acrea of somthing close to the woods maybe where the deer have to funnel through and see what happens

RE: Food Plot's?
YOu will have more success trying to gain more hunting ground then planting a food plot trying to draw deer into a 20 acre set up. With only five acres of "woods" that most of us would consider bedding areas and brushy nothing making up the rest, there will be little you can do to prevent deer from even noticing you approaching your set up. Once they see you and you bust them once or twice, game over, you are hunting unproductive ground the remainder of the year, especially with bucks.
Not knocking anyones ground (forum wide) cause i only have 1/2 lot in town, but we have gotta quite buying into the hype of managing our land and bucks like we are the Drury's of the world. 20 acres, 100 acres or 600 acres is all about patterning and hoping you get damn lucky on the first time or 2 you hunt the pattern. It justis not enough land to work with. Outside of those precious first hunts evrything else changes |
