Dang stupid deer!!! Planted a bunch of beans this year and will not let them get tall enough before eating them all.Any ideas to keep them out short of calling a meeting with them.HAHA If they would just let them grow to a good bushy stage ther would be enough for thim to graze all they want for the summer.[>:][>:][>:][>:]

I don't know what "a bunch" is, but in many areas, if you don't plant at least 3 acres you're wasting your time. They eat them off as they come out of the ground. Only other real option is electric fence.

Trap them and hold them prisoners until the beans get big enough. Just tell the game warden that they didn't have permission on there yet.:D

I talked with Brian Murphy several years ago about planting soybeans in the south. He said if you have the normal high deer populations that you need to plant at least 10 acres of beans to do any good.

The farm I hunt sometimes has to plant a hundred acres of soybeans in order to make anything from them. He says the deer take out 20 acres easy. I don't know, but I don't see any reason for him to make that up.

Deer eat soybeans while they are growing, they use the leaves, when they get a little higher( Middle to end of July)deer will leave them alone until they freeze then they will come back to eat the beans. Beans are an attractor for early in the year. They drive farmers nuts up here in Wi. Figure about 20 % loss to deer.
