I used to carry my .40 cal all the time. As I got older, I decided to eliminate the additional weight while firearm hunting.

I wish I could carry it when bow hunting, especially in Colorado. Mtn Lions and Blk Bear defense with a bow makes me nervous.

Default i dont have one but can see the rational.

If you are bowhunting and have to walk through bear country on the way to the car at night. pointy sticks dont help you much in the dark. My cap light battery died on my way back to the truck once or twice when i was way back in the woods in bear country. kinda wish i had something to scare a wayward critter away if he thought i was lunch. so i just whistled and talked to myself and stumbled down the deer trail. lol.

I carry all year long. You never no if you run into some crazy person that is trespassing or poaching and may give you a hard time or worse. plus bears here have come up trees I'm in I only try to scare them if possible but if need to be well.
