Default WARNING! BEWARE! Whitetail Inn - Kimbolton., Ohio

Fellow hunters, I do not make a practice of complaining. However, I am compelled to put the word out on this operator to perhaps save even just one person the disappointment and theirlost hard earned $'s from hunting with the WT Inn in Kimbolton, Ohio. This fellow is advertising real hard and putting hunts up for bid on ebay. I can assure you that all his claims and representations are to be questioned. I can speak from experience as I did book and hunt(?) with him last fall. It was a let down from the moment I pulled into his lodge(?). Many of his promises and contractual agreements were just plain out false. This was not just my opinion but the opinions of most of the hunters that were in the camp at the same time. The hunt started out with 10 hunters for a 5 day hunt. I left after hunting for 3 days. I was number 8 to leave early. It was just fruitless as far as the hunting was concerned and the camp arrangements. It was a bust from all concerned. I'm in my mid 50's and a retired Federal Land Management employee from western Wyomingthat had the responsibility for administering the Outfitter-guide program on a district of over 1/2 million acres. I've have also been fortunate to have been on guided hunts in most of the western US, Canada,Alaska plus Africa. I know the outfitting/guide business. This operation in Ohio is hands down on the bottom of my list. Please, do yourself a favor and research this operation before booking. I didn't and I should have known better. My money is gone. If I can save anyone from experiencing the let down I had then this report will have been worthwhile. Once again, buyer BEWARE before committing to Whitetail Inn, Kimbolton, Ohio.

I doubt I would ever use an outfitter up there, but I appreciate the info. Can you be more specific about what you would look for in an outfitter?

Yes details are needed to bring and validity to this claim. What was promised and not delivered? As such an experienced hunter with guides I would have thought you would have done some more legwork. As you had bad feedback from someone going into this (but after signing your contract) maybe verbally communicating your expectations to the outfitter would have helped.

Looks like a "private hunting preserve" that charges big bucks for canned trophy hunts, since they also offer much cheaper fair chase hunts.

I just looked it up Lanse and you are right. When you say big bucks you aren't kidding. Prime example of a canned hunting operation with some fair chase hunting in another area. No license needed is another good tip. These places give all serious sportsmen a black eye. I love the price on a 200+" deer...call for availability. I bet if someone wants one they go from zoo to zoo to get some old toothless 9 year old still gumming the grain.
