Default In this situation...what happened?

Last NH Opening Day, I shot a big doe at about 30 yds.
I was in my treestand about 18-20 feet high.
After the shot, the doe went right down on her back and started kicking.
This lasteda few seonds until she righted herself up and ran under my stand.

I could hear her running but could not see her. I was pretty sure she was down within 100 yds of me because I could hear her crashing and then nothing.

I checked the spot she was standing and founda few drops of blood and some hair. Myself and a buddy looked for almost 4 hrs and found absolutely nothing. Not even one drop of blood.
How could a deer that was hit so hard with a .308 that she was literally knocked down, never leave any other sign?

Sounds like you hit close to the spine, just close enough to temporarily stun her. If it was a .308 there is a chance the bullet didn't expand for some reason.

X2. Sound like you gave her a stinger nicking a nerve or somethign and causing a temporary paralizing stun but wasn't severe enough. With the high shot you likely didn't get much for vitals and she ran for along time even though her body was acting weird. Probably why you heard crashing. Her spine situation probably wasn't making her function properly but wasn't enough to kill her at the time. WCL
