The problem is you are not "thinking" ,you base your views on gun control, on knee jerk emotions implanted in your mind by the anti gun media, and completely ignore the facts about gun violence and what really causes it. Go back and read a few of the posts responding to your 1st post, and try educate yourself w/ the truth, instead of allowing yourself to be programed by those who want to destroy the hunting and shooting culture and tradition in this country.

Exactly my point. Making ANY type of weapon illegal will not stop any amount of killing. It just keeps the law abiding citizens from being able to own those firearms. The criminals will still have them, but I won't be able to protect myself and my family and that was the intent of the 2nd amendment. To protect ourselves from violent threats, whether that threat be from a neighbor, a gang member, an escape prisoner, and even to defend ourselves from government that takes away our democracy. I have lost a family member in every declared war, Vietnam, and Korea that were defending my freedom to keep and bear arms along with many other rights. I am proud of my country because of these rights and I believe we need to fight to keep them.

A semi auto spits out bullets faster than a single action. That's a hard FACT!

I am NOT saying anything about taking away our right to have guns, I'm just saying a restriction on semi automatic weapons would help keep some of these cops from getting slaughtered.

While the loss of a first responder in the line of duty is tragic, 7 policemen over the course of "a number of years" is hardly taking out cops like its nobodies business.

Reducing gun crime is certainly an important thing to do, but you do not do it by punishing law abiding citizens. Just because some people speed, drink and drive, text and drive, etc., does that mean you should be punished for being a safe driver? Of course not. Neither should gun owners who obey the law.

If you want to reduce gun crime, you do the following:

1. Lock-up criminals for a long time.
2. Put more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens. The more lawful people who are out there that can shoot back, the safer society is as a whole.


This is not how one begins a "friendly" discussion.

Injecting emotion into the argument doesnt back up your point. Cops, fireman, soldiers, get killed all the time, its a dangerous job, but do you actually think banning guns is gonna stop it? A single shot shotgun spits out a lot of lead too but even if they banned those, do you think it would stop a thug from getting one and using it? do you think a maniac that is willing to commit murder cares about gun laws?

Even if if you could magically snap your fingers and vaporize alls guns ,I could think of a dozen ways to kill a bunch of people at once w/ stuff I could buy at home depot and a gas can and Im a nice guy Imagine what a motivated murderous thug can come up w/?

A semi auto rifle only "spits out bullets" as fast as the HUMAN BEING THAT HAS THE MENTAL CAPASITY TO PULL THE TRIGGER! Last time I checked the firearm didn't do a damn thing until a person made the decision to pull the trigger.

A pump shotgun can be operated almost as fast as a semi auto Using your reasoning they should also be banned .Then a single shot rifle can kill at a much further distance ,better get rid of those too ,Then the shotguns ,THE most deadly close range weapon , must be banned .Before you know it people will be killing each other with bows and arrows again and guess what someone will be saying that they to need to go

What, the action on a semi auto rifle doesn't react faster than the action on a single action? Sure it does, because it's either a pump or bolt action which is much slower. Think about it.
