The country we hunt is mostly sloped so the deers back will be on the uphill side when they lay down ,no animal lays with thier body downhill . The wind is usually uphill during the day so that would put it to thier front . For all of that I have seen bucksbed down in open fields in the middle of the day as long as it is in the shade .
